Welcome to the Rhode Island Association of Admission Officers (RIAAO) website! Founded in 1976, RIAAO is committed to providing access to higher education for Rhode Island high school students. Each year, the organization sponsors a fall college fair, a spring college tour for guidance counselors, and a scholarship worth $500 awarded to five students each year. I hope you find this website helpful and informative as you pursue higher education. Counselors, please see details about the tour below. Sincerely, Erin West Each spring, RIAAO hosts the annual RI Guidance Counselor Bus Tour which allows counselors to visit the 10 four-year institutions in the state. This program is open to domestic and international school counselors from public, private, and parochial secondary schools, as well as independent counselors. Rhode Island counselors are not eligible to participate. This tour is open to one counselor per high school. A non-refundable participation fee of $300 or a typed letter requesting a fee discount must accompany the reservation request to reserve a spot on the tour (checks should be made payable to RIAAO and personal checks will be accepted to temporarily reserve a spot). Fee discounts are limited and will be evaluated individually and your letter should state why the cost of the tour would present a financial hardship. The tour includes single occupancy accommodations at the Courtyard Marriot in Downtown Providence, all meals, and transportation between school visits. Participants are responsible for all travel arrangements to and from the host hotel. Participants must also stay for the entire tour and should not expect to be able to leave earlier than noon on April 29. Invitations and registration information for those who have requested it will be mailed out in late January 2010. This year’s tour dates: April 25-29, 2010
